The Blue Flag Certificate is part of an international program that works towards sustainable development at beaches and marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management and safety and other services.

In Costa Rica, this program has been managed by the AyA (National Water Distribution Company) for several years already. The program began certifying different beaches throughout the country and has also extended to public and private communities.

Conchal beach is proudly certified by the Blue Flag program and is now among a selected group of 3,200 certified beaches and marinas across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Canada and the Caribbean. Reserva Conchal is also applying for a private community certification and helping local schools and communities obtain their own public certifications.

Reserva Conchal’s goal is to contribute to the accomplishment of a sustainable network in the area, guided by this important program.
