6th Guanacaste Classic Golf Tournament
For the sixth consecutive year, Reserva Conchal and Hacienda Pinilla organized the
Guanacaste Classic Golf Tournament, under the modality of friendly tournament. In
tune with a high social sensitivity, and following in the lines of the corporate
social responsibility of both communities, this year’s event, which counted with
the participation of 100 national and international golfers, was dedicated to the
Santa Rosa, El Edén de Cartagena and Tempate de Santa Cruz CEN-CINAI.
The tournament, which took place on July 26-27 at Reserva Conchal and Hacienda Pinilla
respectively, celebrated the act of delivery of the donation at the Guanacaste Classic
party at the Reserva Conchal Beach Club. The check, by the amount of $10,000, was
presented to Mrs. Zarai García, Director of the Santa Cruz CEN-CINAI and to Dr.
Juan Luis Sánchez, Director of the Ministry of Health at Santa Cruz, by representatives
of RC and Hacienda Pinilla respectively.
Mr. Carlos Hernández, Operations Manager of Reserva Conchal, and Mauricio Estrada,
present the US$10,000 donation to Zarai García, Regional Director of the Santa Cruz
CEN-CINAI and to Dr. Juan Luis Sánchez, Regional Director of the Ministry of Health
at Santa Cruz.
“Reserva Conchal is a community known for its countless social and environmental
efforts, which reiterate its commitment to its corporate social responsibility philosophy”,
said Mr. Carlos Hernández, Reserva Conchal’s Operations Manager.
CEN-CINAI tends to over 1,000 pregnant and lactating mothers and to all children
younger than 5 years old in a state of extreme poverty in the region. Every day,
this center makes an enormous effort to feed mothers and infants and provide day-care
services, for which they require food, educational materials and clothing. Such
is the need that the demand for food is not currently being met.
Guanacaste Classic’s winner in the Professionals category was Roy Vargas, who won
the last time in 2004.
Besides Hacienda Pinilla and Reserva Conchal, the tournament was sponsored by over
30 private firms that related to the CEN-CINAI’s need, which became an important
social cause in the Santa Cruz area. The tournament was also supported by the hotels
Cala Luna, Tamarindo Diriá, Sueño del Mar, Capitán Suizo, Marriot Los Sueños, Best
Western Tamarindo, Paradisus Playa Conchal and Flamingo Beach.
Also collaborating were Durman Golf, Automercado, Banco de Costa Rica, Purdy Motor,
